US M1 Helmet with D-Day Rangers Invasion Stripe #40
Fixed bale helmet shell with white stripe running down the center front to rear…No known history came with this helmet, but there are WWII photographs in that show men with the US Rangers wearing this type after loading troop transports for the D-day invasion…There is also supposition that this type was used at the Anzio beach landing…Of additional interest is the second pattern Hawley helmet liner that had been painted light green, the first example I have encountered.
Should any visitors to this site know of original WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War photos showing US helmets with painted insignia or tactical markings, please contact me.
