“CSM Foreman began his career in the 82nd Airborne Division in 1956. He served in Lebanon in 1958 and later joined the Special Forces and served in Vietnam and Thailand.

Foreman was at the Sergeants Major Academy at Fort Bliss, Texas, in 1977, when he was recalled to Fort Bragg to join Col. Charlie Beckwith’s original Delta Force, the 1st Special Forces Operation Detachment – Delta. Foreman served for three years as the unit’s first operations sergeant major. He was on the ground at Desert One in 1980 during a failed attempt to rescue 53 U.S. hostages held in Tehran. Eight rescue team members died at the Iranian fueling site when a helicopter and cargo airplane collided. Foreman later served as command sergeant major of the 5th Special Forces Group and command sergeant major of the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School.”
